Start with dry hair:
Most people reach for the water first, but that is a mistake. Many products work better when you put them on hair that is completely dry. Water can coat the strands and act like a shield that keeps the liquid from touching the pests. Brush your hair well to remove any tangles before you begin.
Divide into sections:
It is hard to cover a whole head of hair all at once. Use clips or hair ties to split your hair into four or more parts. Work on one small area at a time so you can see exactly where the liquid is going. This method stops you from missing the hair at the back of the neck or behind the ears.
Massage into the scalp:
The bugs love to stay close to the skin where it is warm. Instead of just pouring the liquid on top, use your fingers to rub it into the skin.
